I'm staying on the fourth floor of an apartment building located on the same street as the Florence outdoor leather market. Every day, about 250 merchants set up their booths and hawk handbags, wallets, belts, and jackets to tourists from all over the world. At night, they deconstruct their heavy, wooden carts and lug them to a nearby storage warehouse. The street is then cleaned and power-washed by the city. It becomes totally deserted. The next morning the process begins anew and the street is crowded with shoppers. I'm no expert, but I'm told the quality of the leather is actually quite good. It's all hand made in China, err, Italy.
